About Dr. Laurel Parnell

Laurel Parnell, Ph.D. is the director of the Parnell Institute and developer of Attachment- Focused EMDR. She is an internationally recognized clinical psychologist, author, and leading expert on Eye-movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR therapy). Since 1995 she has trained thousands of clinicians in EMDR both nationally and internationally. She is the author of six books on EMDR, including her latest release - Rewiring the Addicted Brain

In Parts 1 & 2, you will learn how to use Attachment-Focused EMDR in clinical practice. This comprehensive training includes lectures, small group practice, and demonstrations in a supportive environment.

Learning Objectives:

  • Construct protocols and procedures for using EMDR with a variety of clients.

  • Demonstrate clinical application of EMDR concepts and procedural steps.

  • Demonstrate client selection criteria and cautions necessary for the safe use of EMDR.

  • Utilise resource development and installation in cases of challenging life situations, blocking beliefs, or for performance enhancement

  • Identify methods for developing inner resources used for interweaves and client closure.

  • Construct EMDR targets using the bridging technique

  • Integrate EMDR into clinical practice with a range of clients and present problems

Course Requirements

  • You are an SPS Registered Psychologist, SAC Registered Counsellor, or have a Masters in Psychology or Counselling.

  • You have 2 years of experience in a clinical setting.

  • By participating, you acknowledge that you understand you may be asked to take on the role of a client to support the group’s learning. You confirm that you are psychologically and physically stable enough to engage in this role and that you will take appropriate steps to care for yourself should any discomfort arise. Additionally, you affirm your ability to access and utilise positive coping resources as needed.

Upon Completing this Course

Parnell Institute will award participants a Letter of Attendance. A Certificate of Completion will only be awarded when participants complete all three parts within two years. Julie Probus-Schad - Faculty Parnell Institute / Senior Facilitator

Julie Probus-Schad is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 30 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. She has a private practice in O’Fallon, Missouri. Julie is a Parnell Institute Trainer in Attachment-Focused EMDR Approved Consultant and Facilitator. Julie has facilitated training with the internationally recognized expert, Dr. Laurel Parnell, in Curacao, Singapore, Malaysia, and throughout the United States. She is a contributing author for, Rewiring the Addicted Brain with EMDR-Based Treatment (Parnell, 2019, pages 273-293).

Haleh Rambod - Consultant Parnell Institute / Senior Facilitator

Haleh Rambod has been practicing since 2001 with a focus on helping children, adolescents, individual adults, couples, and parents cope with and overcome personal, emotional, behavioral, educational, cross-cultural, and crisis issues.In addition to being a certified hypnotherapist, Haleh has also received training in sand play therapy, Jungian psychology, and dream analysis. Since 2006, she is an AF-EMDR clinician working with both Farsi speaking and English speaking clients. She is an EMDR consultant to therapists working towards their certification, as well as a facilitator and trainer in training with the Parnell Institute.

Dr Yvonne Lek - Consultant Parnell Institute / Facilitator

Yvonne was an educator before joining the Ministry of Education as a Guidance Officer. In MOE, her work centred primarily on social-emotional learning, a key aspect in preventing mental health issues in children. Subsequently, she went into private practice and has been working with children and adolescents. Yvonne has a keen interest in supporting children who have been exposed to traumatic experiences, and completed her PhD research on the treatment of complex trauma in children in Singapore.

Amy Tan - Consultant Parnell Institute / Facilitator

Amy holds a Master of Social Science in Professional Counselling and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Psychology. She is a registered member and supervisor with the Singapore Association for Counselling. During her course of work, Amy counsels children of all ages, teenagers and families. Amy seeks to help individuals grow their self-awareness and empowers them to unleash their potential. With families, Amy aims to help build strong bonds among family members through strengthening of the marriage and positive discipline of the children. As a qualified Family Violence and Trauma-Informed Practitioner, she helps both the survivors and perpetrators of domestic violence in her course of work.
Amy is passionate about helping clients who have experienced trauma and is a registered practitioner and consultant with EMDRIA, the US certification body for EMDR.
